Bambino Update :: 37 Weeks

I know I probably sound a little redundant in these bambino posts, but... I really can't believe we are on the tail end of 37 weeks. I mean, I really can't believe it.

Back in April I thought it would take forever to get to this point. The early weeks seemed to creep by at a snail's pace but the last several months have absolutely flown by like an SR-71 Blackbird (<-- I'll go ahead and pat myself on the back for that one).

Everything is going well with the little one. We had an ultrasound at the end of last week and they are estimating that he is just about 7 lbs. Right on target! (This information, by the way, is also causing me the same thoughts of disbelief that the 37 weeks thing is.... Has enough time passed that he could really be 7 pounds?!)

Depending on who you ask, babies at 37 or 38 weeks are considered full-term. So, either last Wednesday or two days from now, he will be a full-term baby and will not be considered premature if he decides to make his entrance into the world. Of course there is no way to really know when that day will come, but the doctor estimates that he will be here in time to "put him under the Christmas tree." By the way, for those of you who don't know (and I understand that you probably don't care either) a baby is due at 40 weeks. But, there is 2 week swing in either direction. So, they are expected to be delivered between 38 and 42 weeks. Our doctor, however, said that we won't be going more than a week past our due date if he decides to hold out on us. And, honestly, with this weather, who could blame him?!

So, we are on alert and trying to be as ready as we can be for when the little bundle decides to make his appearance!
