We Meet Again

Well, hello!

Let me do a quick catch-up session. Let's see... this is what has been going on in Maison de Mehler.

David has been working a lot... doing very well I might add... and catching the attention and commendation of many of the higher-ups in the company. He has been working for Farm Bureau for less than a year and has already won several awards. Needless to say, we are very proud! I have also headed back to work and have been quite busy lately. So, we are learning to juggle Baby Gray with our jobs and so far we have been making it work. We each have some flexibility with our schedules so we are very fortunate that we can both do our jobs and take care of the little man at the same time.

We've also just ended what amounted to be a two year process in submitting our application to the IRS for the animal sanctuary. FINALLY! We were both so anxious to have this completed so we are very thankful that the paperwork is finished and now we just have to cross our fingers that the IRS will agree!

With the warmer weather (SO EXCITED!) we have been spending a lot of time outdoors. While the temperatures were still fluctuating greatly there was a lot of this going on with the horses: blankets on, blankets off, blankets on, blankets off, blankets on, blankets off... you get the picture. Hopefully we can now just keep them off! I'm ready for SPRING! We've also been heading to the Farmer's Market about once a week. Love it there! I want to buy every plant so I can bring them home and kill them off one by one. Just kidding- that's not what I would want- only what I would do. Ha! Speaking of which, we are in the process of building new vegetable garden beds. I wanted to change the location and add to it so we will see how they do this year. I have my new herb garden planted- since I decided that I wanted to start over from scratch and threw out my old ones. I'm not sure why I decided that- I blame it on the pregnancy hormones. (PS- being the hippie I am, I didn't actually throw them away in case anyone is judging me for my wastefulness. I killed them with the plan of composting... but Lola ate them instead).

Let's see... what else... feeding approximately 50 pounds of food a day, fixing the fence, cleaning stalls, getting the rental house ready for rent, getting a new tenant, getting our new tenant settled in the rental house, doing at least 3 loads of laundry a day, feeding the baby, changing the baby, feeding the baby, changing the baby, etc etc etc. There is no rest for the weary around here!

I know what you are thinking- this all seems like ample blogging material to keep you guys on the edge of your seat! Enthralled. Captivated. Mesmerized. So, why, Brittain? Why have you not been enchanting us with this and the other millions of things you have been doing in your absence? How have you kept all of this amazing stuff from us? Well, the truth of the matter is that our internet hates us. It went on a long protest and would hardly cooperate at all. So, by the time I finished up my work for the day I kind of just wanted to take it outside and bash it to pieces Office Space style. And I think if I had tried to upload pictures, either the computer or my head would have exploded.

But no complaints- it gave me more time for this:

Playing with and loving on the precious baby boy!!
