David surprised me with flowers.

And that makes me happy.

Party for the June Birfdays

Last weekend we had a very informal party for the siblings with June birthdays. 3 of the 5 have birthdays in June. Did you know that? June birthdays were the best growing up. They meant pool parties and fun soirees with sun dresses, grass, and outdoor activities. February birthdays, however, meant misery. Cold, indoor, gray, and boring. But I'm not bitter. No I'm not.

Moving on...

I wasn't a very good photographer at the party. For one, I didn't get any photos of the birthday celebrants (unless you count the top of Anna's head... which I don't) Secondly, I didn't take any pictures of the people at the gathering except for the kiddos. Thirdly, I didn't diversify my shots and focused mainly on two subjects. What can I say? I was lazy and didn't want to get out of my chair and those were the kiddos that surrounded me. Basically what I am saying is, don't hire me to photograph and capture important family memories.

Meet Miss Liza. She's cute, no? Not only that, but she's so well behaved. Just a roll-with-the-punches kinda gal.

This elusive breed is called a Fuller. I think this is the only time I've ever seen him sit down... he has energy in spades!

Hello, Harrison. What is that look you are giving me? It is making me a little bit nervous...like you have something up your sleeve (well, if you were wearing a shirt and had sleeves)

You thought that last look was scary? Let me just show you my gang signs.

Just kidding. No children were taught gang signs in the making of this blog.

Remember Miss Roll-With-The-Punches? She's ready for a nap. Let's see, this brick patio looks comfy and cozy...
Mom, come over here. This brick patio is divine! Like lounging on a layer of clouds
I'm not so sure Mom agrees...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GUYS! Even though you weren't really pictured in this blog, I love you anyway. It's just that you aren't as cute as the young wippersnappers.

P.S. I don't know how to spell wippersnappers.

Saved By The Bell

So, if you didn't see the Jimmy Fallon episode with Mark Paul Gosselaar on Monday night, I highly recommend it. I considered writing the last sentence as "If you are a fan of Saved By The Bell and didn't see the Jimmy Fallon episode..." but then I thought "What?! Someone might not be a fan of Saved By The Bell?! IMPOSSIBLE!" If you grew up in the '90s... you loved that show. It is as simple as that. You knew that Slater and Zack fought for the love and affection of Kelly. That Screech was Zack's gullible side-kick and tirelessly stalked Lisa. That Slater and Jessie were the definition of opposites attract. Oh, and most importantly, you knew that caffeine pills could cause serious addiction and ruin your life.

Jimmy is working to create a Saved By The Bell reunion. He has several cast members in line but is still waiting on a few to join. If you haven't seen it, haven't heard about it, and if you aren't the slightest bit interested in watching the show... maybe the photo below will peak your interest. You should watch. It is funny. Just skip the Kelly Rippa part and go straight to Mr. Zack Morris.

Follow this link to watch it on hulu (much better quality than YouTube but you will have to either watch the entire episode or skip over the first part of the show)

paris, france

Paris is a magnificent place. I highly recommend you visit. Honestly, going to Paris merely to go to the Louvre is enough of a reason for me. We crossed the pond in April in order to celebrate C's 21st birthday. One of our first stops was the Louvre.

The architecture alone is stunning

I think you may recognize this lovely lady. She shares her large wall in the center of the room with no one and rests behind protective glass.
You may recognize her as well.

FYI: I love sculpture.

If you've seen any of my photographs from Italy you will notice that I am also deeply in love with the gorgeous painted ceilings.

The Louvre has a large section dedicated to ancient Egypt. David is always drawn to Egyptian history when we visit museums.
This is a tomb that has been re-assembled in the Louvre. It is fascinating.

A mummy. It is eerie to know there is an ancient body less than one foot from where you are standing but, at the same time, absolutely fascinating to see the level of detail, work, and preservation. I wonder what this person's life was like... who he was, what he did, etc. That is my favorite part of history- thinking and learning about individual lives...

Absolutely massive column. Probably 20 feet tall.
Animal related=I love it.

Stay tuned! More pictures to come in the upcoming days!

Toy Stealer

This is what our house is about. Dogs. Toys. Couch.

Franklin likes to squish the cushions on the back of the sofa to create an extra comfy spot. He circles approximately two million times before making them juuuust perfect. Then, he immediately hops up and goes to the toy box and finds himself a toy. In this case, the black kong. The plays with it, and circles a few more million times before settling down and immediately returning to the toy box to find another toy. The toy on the far left. Repeat previous steps and return with bone. He does this continuously until he has all of the toys- even if he must steal them from the other dogs. Unfortunately, all of the other toys were outside so this time he could only find three. Poor pup!

But how can you be mad at this face?! Even if he is the selfish middle child dog.

Rain, Rain, Rain!

We have had a tremendous amount of rain lately. Greensboro has suffered from a lot of flash flooding.

Latham Park

The dogs don't like the rain very much. Especially Baxter. So we pretty much have to force him to go outside. He hates us for it. He would much prefer this:

New Job!

As some of you know, David has recently changed career paths. He left the automobile industry and is currently the regional director for an insurance company(so anyone needing health and/or life insurance give him a call!) Those who know David know that he has an amazing work ethic. The boy's work schedule was 8:30 a.m. until usually 10:00 or later at night, 6 days a week, and he ALWAYS worked on the weekends. Taking vacations, even of the weekend variety, was virtually impossible and he barely had any time to do anything which he might deem "fun." The best thing about his new job? The hours. The schedule. His happiness. He still has the same work ethic, thankfully, but he has so much more flexibility!

I thought I would share a quick photo of the terrible work environment in which David must now endure. If he so chooses, a rocking chair on our front porch can easily serve as his office.
Also, I hope you appreciate the photographic masterpiece that is this picture. It was taken from my phone and while I was sitting on the bottom step therefore providing you with A. the best quality photo and B. the best photographic composition available. You're welcome.
