Thank You, Volunteers!

David and I are just completed week 3 of a 5 week long baby class provided by the Women's Hospital of Greensboro. It is hilarious, terrifying, and, most importantly, very informative. Last week the Women's Hospital celebrated their 20th birthday and to commemorate the occasion they had a little shindig which happened to fall on the night of our class. This meant that we were displaced from our regular classroom and put in another room. No big deal, right?

Well, to make sure that we (the class members) understood how appreciative the hospital was that we had to be uprooted and walk a little further to class due to parking overload (again, I don't think any of us thought twice about it. It really was no big deal) the director of the hospital made use of some of their fabulous volunteers. When we arrived at class Thursday evening, there was a handmade quilt for each mom-to-be. Unbelievably sweet! This is in addition to the flower we each received on the night of the party.

This is my quilt. I like that it has a solid blue side so that it can be a muted blanket if necessary. I will say that there was one quilt I eyed enviously from afar (it was selected before we arrived)... it was very calm and quiet, not a lot going on, except it had a really precious fleece lion sewed onto it.

But...

I think, but I'm not positive, that I hit the jackpot when it comes to the quilt I selected. Because I, my dear friends, did not only receive a quilt. Wrapped inside was... a stroller blanket, a knit cap, and a little fleece jacket. I wasn't paying much attention to the other quilts that had been selected but David said he saw several people open theirs and did not see any extra goodies inside!!

The stroller blanket is very cute... I am a fan of the home-spun stitching around the edges and an extra little fleece blanket should come in very handy for our poor little winter boy.

Also... I have a very strange obsession with knit baby caps. I could buy a bajillion of them because I think they are precious. Fortunately, I have managed to keep my obsession at bay so I'm pretty excited about the little boy blue hat!

But honestly... this is my favorite. I don't know what it is about the jacket but I'm in love. I repeat: In. Love. I can't put my finger on the exact reason... maybe it is the hormones or maybe I'm just delusional due to the little foot that is currently trying to separate my ribs from one another... who knows... but I think it is precious!

And I have to say... I am utterly impressed with this gesture from the hospital! They are definitely going above and beyond!
